Port Adopts Resolution to Support 3132

June 23, 2011

The Caddo Bossier Parishes Port Commission at its June Board meeting unanimously adopted a resolution of support for the extension of the 3132 Inner Loop.

“The Port remains committed to expedite the safest and most cost efficient inner loop extension options, in order to provide for the safety and wellbeing of all our citizens and customers,” said Port Commission President Jimmy Hall. “It is regrettable that the inner loop extension corridor was not preserved decades ago. Had it been preserved, neighborhood development would not have occurred and this would not be an issue.”

The commission’s vice president, Erica Bryant reinforced the important of transportation links to I-20 and I-49 for Port customers. “ There is no doubt an extension of the inner loop will provide current and future port customers efficient and safe access while reducing the flow of trucks on Flournoy Lucas Road. The Port Commission stands ready to assist in finding the fastest way to resolve this challenge. Of course, we believe an ideal long-term solution for continued growth in our region is I-69, but the current challenge demands immediate action. It is our hope that the upcoming feasibility study will provide a clear and practical option for the inner loop extension, which can then be constructed as expeditiously as possible.”

Bryan noted that the commission took its the first opportunity after the recent public forum at LSUS to discuss the subject and the resolution was a result of that discussion. “We are interested in studying the best possible route to help our customers remain competitive and to ensure safety for our citizens.”
