Retirement Community Execs Meet With Council Members

May 10, 2011

Executives from The Glen, Azalea Estates and The Oaks of Louisiana, senior retirement communities on East Flournoy Lucas Road, expressed their concerns to City Council representatives on Thursday, May 5. The meetings, arranged by Willis-Knighton Health System, the parent company of The Oaks of Louisiana, were designed to seek public input about a proposal from Mayor Cedric Glover to cancel the proposed extension 3132. The result would make Flournoy Lucas Road a permanent route of industrial traffic proceeding to the Port of Shreveport-Bossier. Expressing concerns for the residents who live in their developments were Rhonda Beauvais, president and CEO of The Glen; Lorrie Nunley, executive director of Azalea Estates, and Margaret Elrod, executive director of The Oaks of Louisiana.
