Port says 3132 extension is a priority

June 17, 2011

Commissioners for the Port of Shreveport-Bossier sent a clear message to those attending their June 16 meeting: The extension of Louisiana Highway 3132 is of utmost priority. It was the first time the Port went on record in support of the 3132 extension.

As concerned citizens and residents of The Oaks of Louisiana sat before them and in an adjoining overflow area, the panel passed a resolution stating that the safety of customers and citizens should take precedence over everything else and that funding for the extension should be swiftly allocated. The unanimous decision was yet another boost to the efforts to get the stalled extension back on track.

Cherry Conover, an Oaks of Louisiana resident, addressed the panel, voicing concern not only for the safety of Oaks of Louisiana residents but anyone traveling Flournoy Lucas. “So many 18-wheelers make it dangerous,” she said. “We have to go into town to buy clothes and other things we need and it’s not safe.”
