3132 Mentioned at Council Meeting

July 27, 2011

During the Shreveport City Council meeting Tuesday, District D Councilman Michael Corbin sought clarification on future construction for a planned subdivision that lies in the potential path of La. Highway 3132.

Bossier City developer Tim Larkin wants to build a road for access to his Esplanade subdivision across land owned by the city, who bought the land to extend 3132.

Roy Jambor, Shreveport-Caddo Parish Metropolitan Planning Commission senior planner, assured the council Larkin is prohibited from building new homes in the subdivision under current zoning until a road is constructed to Flournoy-Lucas Road. He said Larkin has requested the MPC recommend a public dedication of a temporary road and that request will be considered by the MPC at its Aug. 3 meeting. Larkin can build a private street if he chooses, Jambor said.

Mayor Cedric Glover thanked Corbin for his efforts to make sure the public has the most current information but stressed the importance of encouraging others willing to invest in Shreveport, not discouraging them.
