Willis-Knighton Moves to Dismiss Lawsuit

August 03, 2011

Willis-Knighton Health System has withdrawn its participation in a lawsuit that sought to protect the future of 3132 by determining requirements for a road through city-owned property that would connect the Esplanade subdivision to East Flournoy Lucas Road.

“Tim Larkin withdrew his application to the Metropolitan Planning Commission for the access road that would have utilized part of the city-owned tract originally purchased for the extension of Highway 3132,” said James K. Elrod, president and CEO of Willis-Knighton. “Given Larkin’s change of position, we feel there is no need for any further litigation. The City Council’s support has also been critical when they voted not only to support the extension of 3132 but to ensure that this property is not used in any way that could prevent, delay or complicate the southerly extension of 3132.”

Willis-Knighton will continue to support the extension of 3132 and will work with the Finish 3132 Coalition and local officials, reinforcing its concern for the safety of residents and employees at the Oaks of Louisiana as well as all who travel Flournoy Lucas Road and Highway 3132.
